Our autumn topic of Knights and Castles has provided a rich, creative learning experience for children in Year 2. For example, in English we are consolidating work on Uccello’s St George and the Dragon with writing a five-part story. We are also looking forward to our visit to Bodiam Castle, a 14th-century moated castle in East Sussex to learn more about life in a castle.
Children are increasing their skills as independent learners through understanding the importance of perseverance, effort and a ‘can do’ attitude to learning. For example, in maths we are providing lots of problem solving activities so that children learn to explain their reasoning, make up their own examples and see connections with other facts and ideas.
Just a reminder that anyone who missed our Year 2 Parents Information Meeting can find the presentation here on our website as well as the autumn term Topicweb.
