Pupil Leadership
At CPS, there are many opportunities for leadership! We aim to make the children feel safe and welcome to express their views and opinions about our community. Our leaders develop their communication skills, and are reliable and committed. They lead by example and can be relied upon to uphold the school values and ethos. There are many monitor roles in every class and year groups. CPS pledges that all children will have leadership opportunities during their time at school.
School Council
Each class from Year 1 to Year 6 has a School Council member chosen by the class teacher to represent their views and to have a say in the decisions that affect them. They can promote and support what they believe in.
Class Ambassadors
As part of our learning about Democracy, Year 1 to Year 6 hold an election at the start of the year to vote for their new Class Ambassador. This is an important role which includes meeting and greeting visitors and to discuss their learning and thoughts about various aspects of school life.
…and more!
In Year 6, children are encouraged to take on wider roles and responsibilities. Each child is given the opportunity to apply for a leadership role. The Senior Leadership Team carefully look through the submitted written applications alongside the class teachers and allocate each role, many of which require training.
Leadership roles offered to pupil include:
House Captains
Well-being Ambassadors
Pet Prefects
Sports Prefects
Sports Crew
Digital Ambassadors
Reading Prefects
Doodle Champions
… to name but a few!
